Khan-Tengri is the most beautiful and picturesque pyramid-shaped peak in the mountain range of Tengri Tag in the Tien Shan region. It stretches along the border of Kyrgyzstan, China and Kazakhstan. The name Khan Tengri means “Lord of the Sky”.
Many things in Central Asia are associated with the concept of Tengri. Tien Shan mountains, or “celestial mounts”, are located in the center of the original habitat of the ancient Turkic people. The Turkic nations held a belief that Tengri is the Supreme Deity, the Creator of the world. In the Tengri religion, which reigned supreme before Islam in this region of Asia, Tengri determined people’s destinies, allotted life spans, bestowed certain members of society with the supreme authority and retained influence over it. Accordingly, the second highest mountain of Tien Shan was believed to be the place of residence of this Supreme Deity, something like Mount Olympus in ancient Greece.
Therefore, a photograph of the pyramid Khan Tengri, taken by Sergey Melnikoff in 2003 in the upper riches of the glacier Northern Inylchek, will serve as a perfect image on a credit card. Based on the prevailing background color of the photograph, the credit card is likely to be called “Blue Card”, thus adding to the extensive VISA family.
